Here is a very basic step by step guide on replacing the glass rod on an Edwards Systems Technology (EST) addressable fire alarm pull station. This is intended for building engineers and maintenance personnel.
Step #1: Using a small flat head screwdriver, twist the top screw counter-clockwise. The screw is spring loaded and will only turn about 90 degrees. By turning this screw the front panel of the fire alarm pull station will swing down. Don't worry about alarming the addressable fire alarm system as these particular pull stations use a toggle switch not a button. Step #2: Once the fire alarm pull station front panel is open, lift the lever as shown in the picture to the right. This will open up the slot on the front of the fire alarm pull station to allow you to slide the glass rod through.
Step #3: Continue sliding the glass rod through the right hole on the front panel of the fire alarm pull station. The glass rod should come to a stop once it enters the left hole. Once the glass rod is fully inserted, you will want to restore the lever from step #2. This will lock the glass rod in place.
Once you are done just push the front panel of the fire alarm pull station back and the spring loaded screw will latch automatically. The finished result should appear as the picture shown to the right.
