Bosch Programming Backdoor

If you come across a Bosch D7024 or FPD-7024 addressable fire alarm control panel that is locked out via programmer pin, keep this in mind.  There is a quick trick to default the programmer pin or password back to the factory "9876".  By using this trick you will not disrupt any of the previous fire alarm programming stored within the D7024 or FPD-7024 alarm control panel.  In a way this is not a smart trick for Bosch to provide on their panels since anyone can simply come in and take over another company's fire alarm system.  Other fire alarm panel manufacturer's provide a programming backdoor trick that usually deletes all of the stored program.  This is nice since it makes it a little more difficult for someone to take over your system due to the fact that they will have to completely re-program the panel.

To default the programming pin on the Bosch D7024 and FPD-7024 simply locate the two solder points on the bottom left hand side of the main board.  They will be marked with the letters "PROG".  If you are using a D7039 Mux expander module, then they might be hard to see.  Once located use a small wire such as 18 AWG to short out the points.  Hold the short for 5 to 10 seconds.  If successful you will notice the panel resetting.  Once the panel returns to the normal condition simply enter the programming mode with "9876" and change the password to your preferred code.
